retour Saint-Pierre church

NormandySaint-Pierre parish church dates back to the XIII century and has been restored at the end of the XIX century. Inside is the recumbent effigy of Adelise de Tosny, co-foundress of the Lyre abbey.

One of the stained-glass windows attracts our attention : Placed in the south part of the church (the city hall side), this piece of art representing the Virgin Mary, the infant Jesus and Joseph, in a rare configuration, has a distinctive style of the XIX century. Mary is spinning on a distaff, Joseph is leaning over his carpenter’s bench while Jesus is about to sink a nail in a wood cross. Behind this religious scene is actually a representation of a Lyroise family.

Open on Tueday and Thursday from 9 am to 5 pm.
