65947_539212529452069_422192394_nThe modern and interactive staging of the Museum of French Emigration to Canada offers visitors the chance to embark on a journey to New France. The former French colony covered a vast territory ranging from the mouth of the St. Lawrence River (Quebec) to the Mississippi Delta (Louisiana). Many people from the Perche province were among the first settlers to brave the unchartered lands of the new world, clearing forests, cultivating crops and building houses, to found a new country, Canada, 400 hundred years ago. Follow in the footsteps of these new-world pioneers, from the Perche province of France to the banks of the Saint Lawrence River. Discover their history: see what it was like to cross the Atlantic and meet native American Indians.

Walk through the famous Bouillon Kub (house-hold name for stock cubes in France) to delve into the history of consumer society, in a museum that is crammed with hundreds of well-known commercial memorabilia from the not-too-distant past. From the old-fashioned shopping basket to the modern-day supermarket trolley, the Museum of Shops and Brands offers a fun and informative trip down memory lane, including staged scenes of old-fashioned stores and information on the history of shops and trading, brands, advertising and other promotional items.

Visit one or both museums. Temporary exhibitions are also organised.
