Saturday : Breteuil

  • Discover unusual artefacts in the Ancient Lifestyles and crafts Museum.
  • Walk in the town of Breteuil and discover its original architecture and captivating history.

Sunday : Bâlines & Montigny-sur-Avre

  • See the birds of prey of Le Bois des As.
  • Guided tour of Montigny-sur-Avre castle with its kitchen from the 17th century. Enjoy the river games and see the waterfalls.
  • Visit one of many artistic exhibitions held in the area.

Monday : La Guéroulde, Francheville & Bourth

  • Enjoy the visit to Mr Le valegant’s ironworks.
  • A Visit to the company town’s ironworks Museum at Francheville.
  • Discover Le Becquet, an impressive mediaeval stone structure.

Tuesday : Rugles

  • Discover Rugles with its artistic mural paintings, its romantic garden and its industrial history.
  • Stop at the local stores and discover the local produce.

Wednesday : Verneuil-sur-Avre

  • Tour by yourself or guided visit of Verneuil historical center, a mediaeval town listed among the “100 plus beaux detours de France”.
  • Visit the Espace Art de Verre, stained-glass window and glass objects workshop, and Mam’zelle Savon showroom, a soap maker.

Thursday : Damville & Gouville

  • Visit the Chocolate factory, a place to indulge yourself in the different tastes of chocolate.
  • Tour by yourself the Domaine de Chambray “A Normand lordship mansion throughout history”.

Friday : Tillières-sur-Avre & Verneuil-sur-Avre

  • Explore Tillières-sur-Avre, an ancient stronghold of the Duchy of Normandy and visit its church and its impressive cornerstones.
  • Cycle ride through the life and work of Maurice de Vlaminck, a worldwide renowned fauvist painter.

 

Did you know ?

  • Michel Cluizel’s high quality chocolate, is fabricated in Southern Normandy in Damville, then exported worlwide. A workshop’s viewing gallery allows visitors to learn and discover about the history of the family run business and the cocoa industry.
  • Maurice de Vlaminck, major figure of the Fauvisme current, lived and died in Southern Normandy in Rueil-la-Gadelière. The local landscapes inspired his painting. A museum dedicated to Vlaminck’s work will open in a few years in Verneuil-sur-Avre.
  • “L’Ecole des Roches”, famous private school , welcomes international students : children of de Rothschild, Taittinger, Hermes, Inida Maragjah’s families are among the celebrities who studied here in Southern Normandy in Verneuil-sur-Avre.
  • Gérard Garouste, painter and sculptor artist, lives in Southern Normandy. He has designed Elysée Palace’s decor and monumental scale piece of art for the National Library in Paris. In 1991, Garouste launched “La Source” in the village of La Guéroulde. “La Source” welcomes young people to experience art workshops with professional artists.
